Izzy completed an M.Eng. degree in computer science specializing in deep learning at the University of Bristol and also spent a year at Graz University of Technology in Austria. She was a data scientist in the Samarajiwa lab (2019 -2020) and her research involved applying machine learning and deep learning approaches to develop cancer early detection methods as well as delve into epigenetic (DNA modifications). Izzy began a Ph.D. in the lab in October 2020 and will apply AI and computational genomic methods to study diseases involving immunity, inflammation and cancer.
